THE REAR ARCH

Having completed the work on the front arch, and removed the former, it was time to focus on the third arch.  Andy had already re-build the east wall to the point where the arch began.

The former needed modification - one end was designed to fit the front of the middle arch - a slightly skewed shape.  The rear of the middle arch was not skewed, so we modified the former to be the correct shape all the way through.  We also removed the lower two battens to ease fitting (the first two rows of the arch were in place already both sides, so these timbers were not needed).

The next day, Andy started working on laying bricks, whilst the 'heavy' team moved 600 of the bricks that had just arrived up to the rear arch area ready for his use.  By the end of the day, Andy had virtually completed the first layer of bricks!
